What Sport Do You Think Would Be Good For My 12 Year Old Daughter To Relieve Stress?
Okay well, my daughter and I live alone, her dad walked out on us. And this has been for over a year and she is full of stress, she still cries everyday about it. She says she wants to play a sport, to relieve her stress. She doesnt like soccer or football, or basketball, or softball. And I dont know what sport would be good for her!!!! Please help!!

Find an indoor swimming pool and go with her. Swimming is very good for the body and soul. Take a 15 min. walk then turn around and start back home it will be a 30 min. walk when you get home. Again go with her. Try and not talk at first just go and listen to the sounds around you. Go to a health food store and get Sub lingual Vitamin B with Folic Acid for the both of you, it will help with the stress. Please, help her understand that what happened between her father and you is not her fault. I wish you both, peaceful dreams. Good luck!

If you have anyplace , get her involved in the martial arts programs . this will not only teach her how todefend herself , but it will also teach her self control and patience . It would be a good program for her to work through her problems because it helps them to think more clearly about their reactions and the reactions of others . Your husband ran away from his problems , this might help her to see what a coward he was andthat she nor you had any part in his decision to do so . That is my suggestion .
Good luck and God bless

I would highly suggest soccer – I know you mentioned that she has said that she doesn’t “like” soccer. But has she actually played it with a team? Watching soccer isn’t nearly as fun as actually playing soccer.
Basketball is my second choice.
Martial Arts?
Dancing?
I love them all. (I am a woman.)
Tell her to give one of them a try before she actually passes judgement.

What sport would SHE like to play? She doesn’t really even need to play a sport she just need to get active. She can jog, do boxing, karate, rollerblade, kickboxing, yoga or just about anything. Maybe get a YMCA or gym membership for her to use. Or maybe you could both do it together.

Horses. Horse back riding lessons and volunteering at a barn also. They are great stress relievers, great listeners, and teach you discipline, patience, love and are SO MUCH FUN. I had a rough time around that age and the horses were my safe haven. I loved it, and still love it (I’m 25).

How about a martial art? Something like karate if she likes vigorous activity, or maybe tai chi for pure relaxation?

Any sport that she would like to do. Any exercise would be beneficial and make her feel better.

Karate, it is empowering and a very big stress reliever.

Volleyball or track. Track is definitely great because you are pretty much just hanging with your friends all day…and getting baked by the sun. But it is still fun!
