How Do You Deal With A Doctor Who Attributes All Your Health Problems To Stress Because You’re A Woman?

I went to the doctor with concerns over a brain defect I have. I have been experiencing more symptoms related to the defect and I wanted some tests to ensure that it isn’t getting worse. The end result of it worsening could be paralysis, so naturally I’m concerned. The first thing he said was that it must be stress causing my symptoms. Frankly I don’t feel that I am under any stress at all, I’m feeling pretty good about my life in general. The only stress I have is a doctor who doesn’t listen. I also live in an area where it isn’t easy to get a new family doctor. Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with a doctor who thinks that anything a woman complains about is in her head or due to stress?

How Can You Tell When You’re Merging From Positive Stress Into Negative Stress?

There are apparently two kinds of stress we can feel. One is the stimulating type, the other sends us into a state of alert.
I find it very easy to allow outside factors to steer me into the latter, no matter how much fun I was having at the onset of the situation.
How do you know when to withdraw from a situation, as not to allow a shift into “bad stress” territory?

If You Suffer From Anxiety Attacks, Do You Also Get Them While You’re Asleep?

I do, and it’s getting more frequent lately. I’m in good health, but when I get one it’s like I’m having a heart attack. I’m on medication for anxiety, but it still happens on a fairly regular basis….any suggestions? (I’m also in therapy once a week for PTSD.)
