Why Doesn´t English Use Written Accents To Mark The Main Stress On The Syllables?
Spanish uses accent marks ( tildes) to indicate, for example, the irregular placement of the main stress. e.g. árbol, canción, actúa, etc. but English doesn´t. I just would like to know why English doesn´t use the same or similar system. Thank you for your quick response.
