Why Would An Experiment On The Relationship Between Stress And Wound Healing Use Only Women Subjects?
I have to do a presentation on this journal article about the relationship between stress and wound healing. It involves creating blisters on subjects’ arms and analyzing the healing cytokine levels in them and see how it is related to stress. But the experiment uses only post-menopausal women… is there any statistical advantage for an experimenter to use only women subjects in an experiment like this?
What Would Be The Easiest, Cheapest Way For Me To Measure Stress Levels For My Science Experiment?
Stress causes the brain to siganl the release of stress hormones, one of which being adrenaline/epinephrine. Adrenaline increases heart rate as part of the ‘fight or flight’ responce to stress. Would the easiest and cheapest way for me to measure stress be to measure heart rate? What device would i need? Where would i get the device, how much would it cost, etc.?
Thank you!
