My Doctor Won’t Prescribe Me Klonopin For My Anxiety Attacks, What Can I Do?
he currently has me on vistaril (50mg) for anxiety attacks. it does nothing for me during my attacks. i even take 3 of those at once and still nothing. he says he won’t prescribe it to me because it has a chance of abuse. i am not a pill popper i just want something that i know will work during my rare panic attacks.

ask for a low dosage of xanax and tell him you will sign a narcotics contract that will state you will not abuse, sell the meds, or state that the prescription is lost or stolen and need a replacement. otherwise id say find another doctor. its not that hard. in fact its easy. you just call around ask if another doctor accepts your insurance, choose them as primary and start over anew( not entirely. you can have them look at somre or all your records at the prior doctor. only with your written permission as mandated by HIPAA). GL!
BTW klonopin is very strong and xanax is not as strong and the effect lasts a very short time, but enough for an anxiety attack.

Find a new doctor. There are plenty who recognize the therapeutic uses of benzos, despite their addiction potential. They are, indeed very safe medications when used as directed. Vistaril is basically Benadryl. It calms some people down, but if you are like me and have an actual panic/anxiety disorder, you would benefit from something stronger.. I have been on Tranxene, Klonopin, Valium, and Ativan and have found the Ativan to be most effective. And I don’t abuse it. Some doctors would rather try everything ELSE under the sun to avoid any liability of a “potentially addictive med.” Good Luck

you should be glad he wont prescribe that, it known to cause seizures….go back to the doctor and tell him you need something you can take as you need it bases, Valium is good, you can also go to herbal medicine and get Valerian root extract, cheaper and works real well…with no side effects
