How Long Will It Take For The Pain Of A Stress Fracture To Go Away?
I had multiple stress fractures in both of my shins from basic training last year. They were so bad in fact, that I was discharged for it. I am now trying to get into the Police Academy, so I will be running a lot. I can’t even walk fast in flip flops without my shins killing me. I know I let the first injuries go too long, and two of the stress fractures were level 4. (which I guess is the worst kind.) Does anyone have any idea how to make the pain go away?

Stress fractures take a really long time to heal. This is because most people simply don’t let them heal because, hell, the leg isn’t broken and you can still walk around with a couple of painkillers.
Flip flops are not helping you. You need something that will give your legs proper support and will absorb the shock of walking. Avoid repeated stress such as standing for long periods, running, jogging and walking. Frequent massages also help.
Get as much rest as possible. Eat properly and work out the other parts of your body. RUNNING WILL ONLY MAKE THINGS WORSE. You’ll end up breaking your leg if you continue.

Wearing flip-flops is only going to prolong the pain and the helaing . You need to wear something with more support ; or at least shoes that lace up while you have shin splints . Also , you must ease up on the fast walking or any excercise in order to heal properly . Under the right citcumstances you’ll stop feeling pain in about a week or less .Elevate , and use ice-packs ten minutes at a time ( not directly on skin to avoid nerve damage ) . Mineral ice , in a jar works too for the pain .
