How Can I Stop Having Panic Attacks At Work?
I work as a cashier and at times I start breathing hard, sweating, and I feel like crying. I just feel overwhelmed in a weird way and my stomach starts to hurt really badly. Could it be from just being around people? I also being to feel nervous when getting ready for work. I feel like crying when getting ready…any way I can stop this? (without a therapist or anything?)

keep a bottle of water with you. breathe slowly, in through your nose, out through your mouth.
dont act dramatic, you dont want to scare the customers
think about that at the end of the day you will be free, and fine
if you can, chew gum

i have anxiety too and avoided the therpist for years but honestly i wanted to die after a while because I could not stand the panic any longer. I gave in and went to the doc (i do NOT take meds either) and I am doing so much better. You need some sort of cognitive behavioral therapy to learn over time how to deal with it. There is a reason for your anxiety so its good to get down to it and find out why…you cant just get better without help.

Stress is the chief cause of most anxiety, panic and social phobias. But stress is not just about feeling tense and wired. It’s about the triggering of our hard-wired “Fight or Flight Response.” And it’s about the release of toxic hormones — drip, drip drip — into our system. These hormones seep into our blood and tissues where, over time, they set up conditions for “attacks” of fear, anxiety and panic.
Panic attacks can be debilitating both for you and for those around you. It is not an experience we want to live through again. Just what are some ways we can Overcome Anxiety and Stop Panic Attacks?
Here are some tips that have proven useful.
* You can apply some lavender oil to relax and de-stress your nerves. Just one drop near your lobes does wonders. * Avoid high caffeine drinks as they stimulate your system and pile on more stress instead of relaxation. * Add a dash of lemon in green tea to relax your nerves.. * Try all simple remedies before taking any anti-stress pills. It’s always easy to start on them but almost impossible to stop. Most have unpleasant side affects. * For adults usually a combination of a light drug and remedies works more effectively. * Stay away from the cause of your anxiety and tension. As “prevention acts better than cure”. * In some women, anxiety may be caused (or worsened) by low hormone levels, most commonly progesterone…and progesterone levels drop in times of stress (such as the holidays). Progesterone helps keep serotonin levels from dropping too low, and low serotonin can cause anxiety & depression. Doctors can test for low progesterone and prescribe it (though many doctors are unaware of the link with anxiety-depression).
* If problem persists for longer time please consult a medical adviser. Most suggestions are suitable only for shorter periods of anxieties, where the causes can be discovered and reasoned out. * Even the lightest pills should be consumed only after consulting a physician to “avoid conflicts” with other medications. * If these suggestions do not help, and nervousness still reflects in the behavior of the person at social gatherings. Then perhaps it is some kind of anxiety disorder calling for a medical cure. * These measures do not stand-in for medical help, it may do you good in mild problems. For severe acts of phobia it’s definitely best to consult a physician.
